For the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon series in November, guests are welcome to a luncheon at Echo Lake Country Club at 515 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ 07090 on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, beginning with check-in at 11:45am (usually ends @2:15).
On July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the United States officially broke away from the British Empire when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence.
Fifty-six men signed this cherished document.
5 Months later, On Christmas night 1776, General George Washington led 2,400 Continental Army troops across the ice-choked Delaware River from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. This daring, late-night maneuver during a severe winter storm enabled a surprise attack on Hessian forces at Trenton, revitalizing the American Revolution after a series of defeats.
We hear these stories from childhood and increasingly during special anniversaries such as this year's 250th anniversary of our Nation.

Please advise if there are special dietary needs. The luncheon fee of $40 (WHS members) or $45 (non-members) includes a three-course meal, coffee/tea, and gratuity.
