December 3th First Wednesday Lunch- - “The History of Echo Lake Country Club” Bruce Nelson and Adam Dix

  • Echo Lake Country Club 515 Springfield Avenue Westfield, NJ, 07090 United States (map)

For the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon series in December, guests are welcome to a luncheon at Echo Lake Country Club on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, beginning with check-in at 11:45am (usually ends @2:15).

ECHO LAKE COUNTRY CLUB HISTORY

Echo Lake Country Club traces its origins to 1899, when it was founded as the Cranford Golf Club. In 1921, the club adopted its current name following a ‘merger of equals’ with the Westfield Golf Club, whose members voted to sell their original 9-hole course in order to unite with Cranford. This pivotal partnership created a stronger and more financially resilient country club.

Throughout its 126-year history, Echo Lake Country Club has weathered both challenges and triumphs, emerging as one of New Jersey’s premier country clubs. Today, it serves the community with a strong membership and a promising outlook for the future.

On December 3, 2025, Echo Lake’s Club Historians, Adam Dix and Bruce Nelson, will offer a brief overview of the club’s rich history. Instead of presenting a dry recitation of facts, Adam and Bruce will share engaging anecdotes, weaving together a narrative of the club’s evolution that promises to both entertain and inform the audience.

Those wishing to attend the luncheon may make a reservation by email to westfieldhistoricalsociety@gmail.com; or, by calling 908-654-1794, before Thursday, November 27, 2025 .
