First Wednesday Luncheon: "Historic Journey Through the Iberian Peninsula - From Portugal to Andalucía" with Lisa Wendel

  • Echo Lake Country Club 515 Springfield Avenue Westfield, NJ, 07090 United States (map)

Perched on the Atlantic on the far edge of Europe is Portugal, a salty, traditional culture, while its only neighbor, Spain, conjures up images of bullfights, massive cathedrals, enriched culture, delicious food, and unique lifestyle. Found among their distinct regions is an enriching history of culture, language, and local life. However, these images are equally paralleled by their historic, fascinating, and feisty past which will be discovered together.

Join the Westfield Historical Society on Wednesday, December 6th beginning with lunch check-in at 11:45 am, at the Echo Lake Country Club when Lisa Wendel shares her love of travel from her latest adventure - an “Historic Journey Through the Iberian Peninsula - From Portugal to Andalucía.” Embark on an educational and historic journey off the beaten path through the region of Andalucía, home to sleepy, whitewashed villages, Granada’s Moorish palace, Cordoba’s massive medieval mosque and Sevilla’s grand cathedral. Learn about the birthplace of bullfighting in Ronda and Fado performances in Coimbra. Explore the countryside of Spain and Portugal for a brief afternoon and immerse yourself in the passion and excitement of the Iberian people, culture, and customs.
